Richard Godfrey
Chief Executive Officer
Richard Godfrey joined BerGenBio in 2009 and has lead the development of the company from the beginning. Previously he served as CEO Aenova Inc. a Swiss biopharmaceutical company, and earlier as Managing Director of DCC Healthcare Ltd. an Irish Pharmaceutical company. Mr Godfrey held various positions at Catalant, Eli Lilly and Reckitt Benckiser. In these companies, Mr. Godfrey held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of business development and operational planning. After qualifying as a Pharmacist in the UK and subsequently, he received his M.B.A. from the Bath University Graduate School of Business.
Jim Lorens
Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Officer
James Lorens is co-founder at BerGenBio AS. He is also a Professor at the Department of Biomedicine at the University of Bergen. He completed a post doctorate at Stanford University on novel library screening technologies following which he was a founding scientist and research director of Rigel, Inc, a San Francisco biotechnology company. Prof. Lorens has initiated, authored and managed several large scientific collaborations in cancer research and development with major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. In addition to BerGenBio, Prof. Lorens leads a large internationally active research laboratory comprising 22 researchers. His group is active in biotechnology development, angiogenesis and cancer research. Prof. Lorens is an author of more than 70 peer-reviewed articles and patents.
Dr. David Micklem
Co-Founder, Chief Technical Officer
Dr. David Micklem is Chief Technical Officer at BerGenBio AS. Dr. Micklem has extensive experience in molecular biology with postdoctoral research stints from the USA (Stanford, San Francisco) and UK (Cambridge/Oxford). Dr. Micklem has been the driving force behind the RNAi technology and continues to develop as well as apply this technology. Dr Micklem has authored many peer-reviewed articles and patents.
Christopher Molineaux
Chief Development Officer
Dr. Christopher Molineaux is a Pharmacologist with twenty years experience in biopharmaceutical industry taking small molecules and antibodies from drug discovery through clinical development. Dr. Molineaux was formerly VP of Development at Proteolix (NDA filing Q410), Director of Development at Fibrogen, Director of Pharmacology at Praecis and Project Leader at J&J, Merck and Enzon. Formerly Dr. Molineaux was a faculty member at Mt. Sinai Medical School and completed his PhD at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Tone Sandal
VP Research Services
Dr. Tone Sandal serves as VP of Research Services. Dr. Sandal has extensive experience in molecular cell biology; she gained her PhD from the Institute of Cell Biology UiB and completed post doctorate work at the University of Chicago and the institute of Clinical Medicine in Bergen. Dr. Sandal is responsible for the success fulfilment of the companies contract research and development activities.
